Remote development functionality supports working from home and hybrid schedules, as your projects are securely located on the remote machine and can be accessed from anywhere. With JetBrains Gateway, source code is kept on the server side. Develop on any machine without being limited by the power of your local devices.Feel like you are running your IDE locally, with lag-free typing and code assistance. With remote development workflows, you can: To establish a connection to a remote server, you need to download and install JetBrains Gateway, which is a lightweight application that is used as an entry point and connects everything together via SSH.It is basically a full-blown version of RubyMine that is just being launched in a special headless unattended mode. On the server side, there is a headless build of RubyMine, potentially the same executable as the one you are currently running. On the client side, you run JetBrains Client, which is a lightweight application that enables you to work with your remote project.RubyMine 2021.3 offers remote development functionality to help you code, run, debug, and deploy your projects from any machine. After re-creating new projects over and over and copying my code back in line by line, the only difference I can find with what is working to the rest is that I am now running it from a folder that isn't being watched by Dropbox, I don't know how or why this would of affected it but it is the only explanation I can find. The RubyMine 2021.3 Early Access Program has reached Beta! Below are some of the new features in the upcoming release that we have not mentioned yet: I think I finally have everything working. Many thanks for all the help.In the end I decided just to copy everything into a new project that I created through RubyMine itself rather than through terminal and that solved it. Link to a diff, on the right is the test that does work, on the left is the one that doesntĪny thoughts of what to try? Im reluctant to start a new project and move everything over into it if I can possibly help it. I have run a bundle show against both projects to see if it added any gems but I cannot see anything obvious. I created a new project through RubyMine (before I did it through command line) and have done a simple test looping through an array for numbers in a controller and it has worked!! This time, the first time I ran the project it said it needed to install something which I said yes to, it didnt do this with my exising project before but the problem is I have no idea what it did. I did have byebug in there which I have commented out because RubyMine complained the first time I tried to debug with it on and I am not really using it anyway, it is just something I added from a tutorial I started but haven't got round to finishing yet. I have tried manually adding Debugger gem, rails-debugger-ui but with no joy so I took them out temporarily. # Spring speeds up development by keeping your application running in the background. # Access an IRB console on exception pages or by using in views # Call 'byebug' anywhere in the code to stop execution and get a debugger console # allow adding of meta tags and descriptions to pages Gem 'compass-rails', git: '', branch: 'master' Gem 'geokit-rails', github: 'geokit/geokit-rails' # bundle exec rake doc:rails generates the API under doc/api. # Turbolinks makes following links in your web application faster. # Use Uglifier as compressor for JavaScript assets # Use postgresql as the database for Active Record # Bundle edge Rails instead: gem 'rails', github: 'rails/rails' I am pretty new to Ruby which is making the process much harder, but more important that I get it working!! Is there any particular gems that are best to use (or even required) for debugging. I am at a loss of what to try, I have been struggling to even find a decent article about how to configure from scratch, i just get a lot of rather vague articles from RubyMine. Then I get: Process finished with exit code 143 Then I get a loading bar that says waiting 10 seconds for Debugger. I have spent hours Googling and reading articles, trying different things with no joy.Īll that happens when I run in debug mode is the following message comes up: Fast Debugger (ruby-debug-ide 0.6.0, debase 0.2.1, file filtering is supported) listens on 127.0.0.1:56580 I am trying to get Debugging up and running in RubyMine on Ubuntu and just having no luck at all. I am really hoping someone can help with this as it is driving me mad.
